Caryl Parry Jones is one of Wales' foremost singer songwriters. With five albums to her credit, her prolific output as a composer has not only encompassed her own musical career but has also contributed to the repertoire of singers and choirs of all genres.
From children's lullabies to rock and funk, to folk and close harmony to cross-over classical pieces for the likes of Bryn Terfel, her range of styles is mirrored in her own material and has stood her in good stead as the composer for numerous Welsh musical theatre productions as well as music for film and television.
Not only a singer-songwriter, she is also an accomplished scriptwriter, presenter and producer, areas in which her creativity, wit and her literary and comedic skills are allowed to come to the fore.
As a performer herself she gigs her own material with a superb eight-piece band, made up of Wales' finest musicians and singers. She's also a member of a five piece close-harmony vocal band, specialising in arrangements of American Songbook Classics, their own special arrangements of Welsh favourites as well as original material, composed by Caryl herself and the other members of the group.
She delights in sharing her experience with younger singers and performers and takes great pleasure in coaching them from a vocal and performance point of view, teaching them everything from the importance of vocal preparation and technique to professional etiquette and audience interaction. Countless young performers who have enjoyed her workshops and one to one sessions, have gone on to pursue their own musical careers.
In 2007 she held the prestigious title of Wales' Children's Poet Laureate - a post which gave her immense pleasure as poetry and words are also an important part of her work and career. She has also been honoured by the Royal Television Society's Hall of Fame, received Honorary Fellowships from both University College Bangor and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has received an Honorary Master of Music Degree from University College Swansea. Caryl was also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2007 BBC Radio Cymru RAP Awards for her outstanding contribution to the Welsh music scene.
2008 has seen Caryl work regularly for BBC Radio Cymru as presenter of 'Rhaglen Nia', main panellist on 'Bwletîn' and also as presenter of Radio Cymru's music programme 'Bît'.
In addition, Caryl has hosted S4C's Noson Lawen and continues to gig regularly with her band the 4 o 5's. Caryl also performed in New York as part of the 'Wales Week' 2008 celebrations and is available for further performances worldwide.

Mae Caryl Parry Jones yn un o gyfansoddwyr a chantorion mwyaf blaenllaw Cymru ac wedi dominyddu'r sîn gerddorol Gymraeg dros gyfnod o dri degawd. Gyda phump albwm i'w henw, mae ei chynnyrch cerddorol toreithiog, nid yn unig wedi bwydo ei gyrfa ei hun, ond hefyd wedi cyfrannu at repetoires cantorion a chorau o bob genre.
O hwiangerddi plant i roc a ffync, o gerddoriaeth gwerin a harmoni i ganeuon, mae ystod ei harddulliau cerddorol, sy'n amlwg yn ei deunydd hi ei hun, wedi bod yn sylfaen gref iddi fel cyfansoddwr sawl sioe gerdd Gymraeg a cherddoriaeth ar gyfer ffilm a theledu. Ma' Caryl wedi cael ei chomisiynu i greu llwyth o ganeuon ar gyfer S4/C a chyngherddau di-ri.
Fel perfformiwr, mae hi'n perfformio ei chaneuon ei hun gyda band wyth-aelod rhagorol, yn cynnwys rhai o gerddorion mwyaf talentog Cymru. Mae hi hefyd yn aelod o'r 4 o' 5s, pumawd harmoni lleisiol sy'n arbenigo yng nghlasuron yr American Songbook.
Mae Caryl yn cael pleser arbennig wrth rannu ei phrofiad gyda chantorion ifanc ac yn gwirioneddol fwynhau dysgu pob agwedd o berfformio. Mae ei gweithdai a'i sesiynnau un-wrth-un wedi rhoi sawl perfformiwr ar ben ffordd - nifer ohonynt yn dilyn gyrfaoedd cerddorol llwyddiannus eu hunain erbyn hyn.
Yn 2007 fe'i hanrhydeddwyd gyda'r teitl Bardd Plant Cymru - swydd sy'n rhoi pleser aruthrol iddi gan fod barddoniaeth a geiriau yn rhan annatod o'i gwaith a'i gyrfa. Mae Caryl wedi cynnal sawl gweithdy llenyddol yn ogystal â cherddorol.
Mi wnaeth Caryl hefyd ennill gwobr arbennig yng Ngwobrau RAP (Roc a Phop) BBC Radio Cymru 2007 am ei chyfraniad aruthrol i'r byd cerddoriaeth yng Nghymru.
Mae 2008 wedi gweld Caryl yn gweithio yn gyson ar BBC Radio Cymru fel cyflwynydd ar 'Rhaglen Nia', panelwraig ar 'Bwletîn' a chyflwynydd ar raglen gerddoriaeth Radio Cymru 'Bît'.
Mae Caryl hefyd wedi cyflwyno Noson Lawen ar S4/C ac yn dal i berfformio yn gyson gyda’i band y 4 o 5's. Wnaeth Caryl hefyd berfformio yn Efrog Newydd fel rhan o dathliadau 'Wales Week’ 2008 ac mae hi ar gael ar gyfer perfformiadau eraill fyd-eang.
